Floral Foam in a Bouquet: Inside the Arrangement and Daily Care

Discover how floral foam supports roses, where water is stored and how to care for a bouquet in Nha Trang.
A bouquet without a vase: where is the water? A wrapped arrangement delivered to a Nha Trang hotel can look as though the paper is doing all the work. A floral-foam design has another layer inside: a hydrated support holding the cut stems. Our cutaway illustration opens a section of the wrapping to explain it. You do not need to cut open, untie or dismantle the real gift.
Wet floral foam, sometimes informally called oasis, supports stems and provides a supply of water. Florists use a product designed for fresh flowers, rather than the dry foam made for artificial decorations. OASIS is a brand name, although people often use the word for the material in general.
The layers inside the arrangement The outer paper provides the finish. Beneath it is a waterproof container or protective liner, with hydrated foam inside. The cut ends are inserted into that moist base. Water remains accessible even when the recipient has no vase available. Decorative paper alone is not a reservoir, so putting an unfamiliar wrapped bouquet under a running tap is not a good watering method.
The drawing explains a construction principle rather than the exact contents of every catalog item. A basket, box, hand-tied bouquet and vase arrangement may use different supports. Ask our manager whether your chosen product needs a vase. Our guide to [choosing a bouquet size for a hotel room](/en/blog/bouquet-size-hotel-room-nha-trang) helps with placement too.
Why our roses start with 90 cm stems VietFlowers uses high-quality roses with an original stem length of 90 cm. This describes the flowers before preparation, not the finished height of every gift. For a compact foam arrangement, the florist trims stems to suit the base, removes unnecessary foliage and makes fresh cuts. A relatively low arrangement can therefore begin with long-stem roses.
Length alone does not determine quality. Bud condition, stem strength, variety and preparation all matter. Spacing also matters: petals should have enough room to keep their shape. If you are comparing products, read [how to choose roses in Nha Trang](/en/blog/how-to-choose-roses-nha-trang) alongside the product details.
Why this format suits a hotel stay A finished arrangement can go straight onto a stable table after delivery. The recipient does not have to find a tall vase or reconstruct the florist's design. This can make a hotel surprise, apartment gift or dinner celebration easier to enjoy. The base holds the individual stems at their intended angles.
A water supply does not protect flowers from every travel condition. A closed car, sunny balcony or direct air-conditioning stream can still damage them. Plan the handover so that flowers can reach a suitable indoor place promptly. See our guide to [flower delivery to hotels in Nha Trang](/en/blog/flower-delivery-to-hotels-in-nha-trang).
Watering the arrangement Look for access to the base between the stems. If the opening is hidden, send our manager a photograph before adding water. Do not pierce the wrapping or pull flowers upward. Protect the table, then slowly add a small amount of clean water to the container beside the foam, keeping it away from the flower heads and decorative paper.
Check moisture daily. The amount needed depends on the size of the base and the room conditions. One large fixed dose can overflow a small tray. Add water gradually and stop if it no longer absorbs or starts collecting near the rim. Not needing a separate vase does not mean the arrangement needs no care.
Keep the structure intact Avoid removing stems and pushing them back into the same holes; their contact with the hydrated base may become less reliable. Do not squeeze, crumble or wash the foam while flowers remain in it. Keep the gift upright, carry it by the base and protect furniture from possible leaks.
Once the flowers have finished, separate the container, wrapping and support for disposal according to local rules. Keep foam fragments out of drains. A used block with damaged holes and stem remains should not be treated as a fresh base for another arrangement.
How long will the flowers last? Floral foam supports hydration; it cannot promise a fixed lifespan. Variety, opening stage, handling, temperature and daily attention all affect the result. Roses from the same delivery may open at different speeds. A single guaranteed number of days would not describe every bouquet accurately.
Place the arrangement somewhere cool, away from direct sunshine, and check its water regularly. If the flowers behave unexpectedly, contact VietFlowers with a photo.
